HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A man was charged in the deadly shooting outside a bar in northwest Harris County in July 2025, court records show.

ORIGINAL REPORT: Man shot and killed after fight outside NW Harris County bar near Highway 6, HCSO says

According to the documents obtained by ABC13, Ashton R. Mayo, 31, was charged with murder on Sunday in the shooting death of Jay Young Jung.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said that on July 15, 2025, deputies responded to a call at about 10:45 p.m. in the 5400 block of State Highway 6 North outside a bar.

When they arrived, deputies said they found Jung unresponsive and suffering from several gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. Officials said he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, Jung came to the bar earlier looking for multiple individuals.

"He had left and came back. When he came back the second time, he ended up confronting, apparently, the individuals he was looking for," HCSO Sgt. S. Miller said. "There were words exchanged, and some type of verbal altercation, followed by gunshots."

Authorities said Jung was hit by the gunfire while he was driving away in a vehicle.

Mayo, who court records said also went by the name "Astro", was arrested on Saturday at about 2 p.m. and was charged with felony murder.
